Thumbs up

Teachers' Muslim dress order (forced to dress as muslims for a day)

By Andrew Parker
October 31, 2007
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle407311.ece

A SCHOOL was yesterday accused of MAKING teachers dress up as Asians for a day ? to celebrate a Muslim festival.

Kids at the 257-pupil primary have also been told to don ethnic garb even though most are Christians.

The morning assembly will be open to all parents ? but dads are BARRED from a women-only party in the afternoon because Muslim husbands object to wives mixing with other men.

Just two members of staff ? a part-time teacher and a teaching assistant ? are Muslim.

Yesterday a relative of one of the 39 others said: ?Staff have got to go along with it ? or let?s face it, they would be branded racist.

?Who would put their job on the line? They have been told they have to embrace the day to show their diversity. But they are not all happy.?

The day aims to belatedly mark Eid, the end of Ramadan.

Sally Bloomer, head of Rufford primary school in Lye, West Midlands, insisted: ?I have not heard of any complaints.

?It?s all part of a diversity project to promote multi-culturalism.?

------------------------------------------

Napoleon once said that "men will fight for their interests more than they will their rights.." And how true he was. People are too afraid of losing their comfort zone of their jobs even when being bullied and their rights trampled. Worse than sheep and deserve a despotic ruler telling them what they should do.
Sean PA, what do you think about this nonsense?

You know, now that I'm in my late 30's I'm such a wussy. But I can see how this would have went down if my school had done this when I was there. I would have told my mom about the "Dress as Muslims" day, and she would have told me "good for you, you need to learn about other cultures." She was always into that kind of stuff.

But when the day came, and she'd see me heading out the door wearing my backpack backwards (so that the pack part is actually on my front), you know, just like the suicide bombers do it, well son of a gun my mom would have thrown a hissy. And I would have thrown a hissy back. She'd go on about diversity and culture, and I would have countered that I AM learning about culture. If Muslim students want to have "America Day" where they slack around, text on their cell phones, download ringtones, play video games, and can't use proper grammar......that's fine with me, I won't be offended.

Then, once I got to school, I would have taken the girls out back, made them stand against the wall, and then we'd have started to chuck rocks at them. Oh I can just see the LewMan being sent to the principal's office over that one...

Evening all
Knowing The Sun, Its probably a far cry from the truth.
But to be honest, its not really a big deal, I have done similar at an Indian wedding, Sadly I think its a poor reflection on an unregulated, sensationalist media.

But that said as a country we are at a crossroads and i am not entirely sure I like the direction we are heading.
Only wish we had someone of Ron Pauls stature to take the helm.

I used to wonder how the nazis in WWII Germany ever managed to carry out their programs. Now I know. It happens right in front of your eyes because most people are content to let things happen so long as they are left alone....

Sean Pa is in the house......

But I do find his comments about the Sun a little hard to believe. He sort of seems to be insinuating that the press (at least in the UK) are suspect when it comes to accuracy, and that they're more interested in sensationalism than hard reporting.

It's just that our media over here seem to get it right all the time and never resort to such tactics, and it's hard for me to believe that such tacky journalism exists anywhere in the world

Just a thought, I wonder if the same headlines will be written for, Jewish,Sikh,Hindu,Bangladeshi,Polish,Chinese festivals held the length and breadth of the Country, and enjoyed by all, and yes some non-connected even dress up to get in to the spirit of the occasion.

Tell me, would it have been acceptable to dress in a nazi uniform in London in 1940 while the bombs were falling on your parents head?
